134 SU "Dimcho Debeljanov"
134 Secondary School ”Dimcho Debelyanov” in Sofia with Hebrew and English Studies is a successor of Hristo Botev First High School. During the First World War, the building was used as a military hospital and students were trained in private accommodation. The school works in partnership with the “Ronald S. Lauder Foundation”, the Bulgarian ORT Foundation and the “America for Bulgaria Foundation”. It builds a Center for Excellence in Education. It includes the Lauder-Ben Yeuda Jewish Cultural and Educational Center, the America for Bulgaria Performing Arts and Performing Arts Hall, the ORT Resource Center and the Dimcho Debelyanov Library. The 2017/2018 academic year welcomed the first high school graduation of the new curriculum with three profiles - "Foreign Languages", "Software and Hardware Sciences" and the all-new "Science" profile for the school. Now we are working on Erasmus project : "Smart Evalution" Advances in technology in recent years have changed the learning behaviors of learners and reshaped teaching methods. This had resulted in several challenges faced by current educational systems, such as an increased focus on informal learning, a growing gap of prior knowledge among students in classrooms and a mismatch between individual career choices and the development of
the work force.
Nowadays although schooling is compulsory we witness phenomena such as school failure, school denial and early school leaving being on the increase. However, today more than ever we feel that we need education and special training. It is a fact that in many Schools in Bulgaria there are many students who have a negative attitude towards school and teachers, do not study and as a result, are low achievers. For these reasons, we feel the need to carry out this project. We strongly believe that the lack of motives is to be blamed for students negative attitude towards school. Therefore, we need to help them develop a positive attitude towards it in order to gain their confidence and instill an interest for learning.
Moreover, students do not demonstrate an interest for learning unless they feel they are progressing, are being recognized, are succeeding and are being praised. Therefore, we need to help them develop a positive attitude towards it in order to gain their confidence and instill an interest for learning. The team of the project was selected according to some criteria: management competences, level of English, motivation, personal development, willingness to spend much of their spare time to work on the project. The teachers involved in the project are highly qualified with years of experience in their areas of teaching and with experience in European projects. The tasks have been distributed and each member of the team is doing his best. In case these persons leave their post in the future there are other teachers who take over their role.
